Pala is passionate about making a difference and they want to ensure that every single person that buys their eyewear knows they’ve made a positive one to another person’s life. 640 million people currently live wihout access to eyewear. By purchasing the beautiful, premium quality sunglasses, you are supporting life-changing vision projects in Africa. Each one is uniquely handmade by traditional weavers in one of three rural communities in Bolgatanga, Upper East Ghana. They started life as plastic bags, used water sachets or recycled plastic waste.

Their glasses are made in China and their cases are made in Ghana. To make their glasses cases they work in partnership with Care4basket a Ghanaian NGO running an initiative in Bolgatanga, Upper East Ghana. Working with artisans and weavers from deprived communities, they make traditional woven baskets, and now the cases for their sunglasses.
They partner with international charity Vision Aid Overseas who are dedicated to fighting poverty by transforming access to eye care in developing countries.
Part of their frames are made from bio-acetate.
They donate and distribute their old stock to people in Africa during their trips.
Their sunglass cases are made from recycled plastic bags. They have selected frames made from recycled acetate.
Their packaging is plastic free and made from recycled and recyclable materials.
They offset their CO2 for all their airfreight which includes their employees flights. They also pay one additional £1 from every delivery they send to their consumers to offset carbon.
